Modern Australia began in 1788 with the arrival of the First Fleet from Britain. Led by Captain Arthur Phillip, 11 ships carrying over 1,300 colonists landed at Botany Bay before moving to Port Jackson, where they anchored at Sydney Cove on 26 January.

This coin commemorates the 220th anniversary of the First Fleet’s arrival, featuring a coloured image of Governor Phillip and an outline of Australia (then called New Holland). The reverse bears the inscription “THE FIRST FLEET 1788” and the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark within a wave border.

The coin comes in a gold leatherette presentation case with a numbered certificate of authenticity and a colourful shipper box (second quality outer box).

Please note: This is a second hand item, the outer packaging may show signs of aging and coins may show evidence of toning. Due to varying stock levels, images used are an indicative example of the packaging and coins you will receive.
